Our long-term care home welcomes 128 residents in a modern, safe environment specifically designed to promote well-being, independence and quality of life.
Rooted in Niagara’s Francophone community for more than 35 years, Foyer Richelieu provides care and services in French while respecting the dignity, values and individual needs of every resident.
A New Chapter for Foyer Richelieu
Since its incorporation in 1988 and the arrival of its first residents in 1989, Foyer Richelieu Welland has played an important role in serving Francophone seniors throughout Niagara and Southern Ontario.
In October 2025, Foyer Richelieu reached a historic milestone with the opening of its new 128-bed long-term care home.
This new environment was designed around the needs of residents and allows the Foyer to continue its mission while providing more space, services and opportunities for future generations.
The evolution of the campus continues with the development of Maison Richelieu, a 55-unit supportive housing project scheduled to open in spring 2028. Connected to Foyer Richelieu, Maison Richelieu will offer seniors a new living option that promotes independence, safety and continued connection to the Francophone community.

Foyer Richelieu Welland is a not-for-profit Francophone long-term care home located in Welland, in the heart of the Niagara region.
We believe that being able to communicate in one’s own language is essential to a person’s sense of safety, belonging and dignity, particularly when they become more vulnerable or are living with cognitive impairment.
Our environment allows residents to live, receive care and participate in daily life in their language and culture.
